10-Year Initiative: Energy Efficiency Initiative in Bagmati

Project Overview

Decarbonizing the Education Sector in Makwanpur

Green Eco Solution (GES) is proud to introduce the Energy Efficiency Initiative, a transformative project focused on the education sector in Bagmati Rural Municipality, Makwanpur. This high-impact initiative is a cornerstone of the Just Transition in Nepal, proving that displacing fossil fuels in public institutions is a high-value asset for Nepal carbon markets. By eliminating reliance on diesel generators and implementing building envelope upgrades, we are securing a stable, clean electricity supply for the next generation.

A Blueprint for Nepal Carbon Markets

Industrial-Scale Fossil Fuel Displacement

Many schools in rural Nepal suffer from grid voltage inconsistencies, forcing a reliance on polluting diesel generators. Our Energy Efficiency Initiative intervenes by installing integrated smart inverter solutions that stabilize power. This process achieves direct fossil fuel displacement, converting avoided diesel combustion into high-integrity carbon credits for the Nepal carbon markets.

Social Equity and a Just Transition

Beyond carbon, this initiative is a vehicle for a just transition. Educational Well-being: Stable electricity ensures continuous school operations and a healthier indoor learning environment (SDG 4). Local Capacity: We prioritize long-term partnerships and training, ensuring that technical expertise and sustained energy-saving practices remain within the Makwanpur community.

Structural Energy Demand Reduction & Article 6 Alignment

To ensure the highest market value, this project is structured to meet Article 6 of the Paris Agreement and stringent Voluntary Carbon Market (VCM) standards.

Building Envelope Improvements: Enhancing insulation and natural lighting to reduce the overall energy load.

Smart Power Management: Using automated systems to optimize consumption, ensuring that Energy Demand Reduction data is “investment-grade” for international buyers.

The Energy Efficiency Initiative represents a definitive shift in fossil fuel displacement and energy demand reduction technology. By institutionalizing smart inverter power management and structural insulation through a digital Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (dMRV) framework, we deliver Article 6 compliance that de-risks climate finance while accelerating educational equity in Nepal
